1967 Shelby Trans-Am Mustang VIN: 7RC1K188183 One of only 5 that are known to exist today Only car to ever be fitted with Weber twin-choke carburetors Only car shipped to Australia FIA Historic Vehicle Complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) Logbook Fully sorted and ready to race One of the 26 Shelby Trans-Am Cars built in 1967 and one of only 5 that are known to exist today. This particular car is the most unique of all of the Mustang competition cars that were built for the 1967 season. It is the only car to ever be fitted with Weber twin-choke carburetors new from the factory, and the only car shipped to Australia. Ford of Australia originally ordered car number seven for leading Australian driver Greg Cusack to compete in the 1967 Tasman Trans Am series. Shelby switched their order to this car (number 20), which was fitted with the Webers carburetors. Official Shelby documentation indicates that this car was shipped to Gregory Ford in Australia on April 11, 1967 along with six sets of wheels. The car became part of the Castrol team with drivers Cusack and Niel Allen and competed in Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, and New South Wales with great success. Allen scored the car's most notable victory at Warwick Farm beating reigning national champion Pete" Geoghegan in 1967. The team raced the car continuously for the next three years selling it to Gordon Stephenson. For the next 25 years the car was used for club racing until being purchased by Paul Burchall in 1992. Burchall began the process of bringing the car back to its 1967 specification and competed in local historic events. Burchall sold the car to Warwick Miller in 2000. He applied for, and received FIA Historic Vehicle Identity papers in August of 2000. In July of 2003 Miller sold the Mustang to a well known California collector and vintage racer. Once the car was brought back to the United States a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration was undertaken. The car was completely repainted and fully detailed. All components were refinished to new condition. The suspension was crack checked and completely rebuilt. The engine was totally rebuilt by Ryan Falconer. The transmission, and rear end were rebuilt back to period correct specification. Once restored, the car was track tested and fully sorted by Canepa. The car currently is in perfect period correct specification and comes with a Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) Logbook. Fully sorted and ready to race, it has recently competed at the Monterey Pre-Historic, Reno Historic, and Coronado Speed Festival.
